Something Different… Keep Your Eyes on the Ball!

MAY 6, 2012 (SAN DIEGO) – This is a photo that I grabbed at a recent San Diego Padres game, when the Pads played the Colorado Rockies for a day game on getaway day. The assumed Father holds his (the) baby up so high, that it was hard to miss from across the diamond. I just hope he brought it back down by the time the pitch was thrown ;) when I, for one, was watching the game. Keep your eyes on the ball! (Photos by Scott Wachter/Sportseye)

Pujols Finally Hits First Halo Homer

MAY 6, 2012 (SAN DIEGO) – I, along with the fans of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, witnessed the long awaited first home run of the season off the bat of Albert Pujols. In the bottom of the fifth inning, Pujols sent one deep into the left field seats that not only got the fans out of their seats, but Pujols’ teammates as well. The Angels cleared the dugout by the time Albert arrived, and Albert found them hiding beneath the dugout stairway. (Photos by Scott Wachter/Sportseye)

Kotsay Saves the Friars

MAY 1, 2012 (SAN DIEGO) – It’s always a real pleasure covering the Brew Crew at Petco Park. For one, I cover the Brewers Fantasy Camp each year in Arizona and am able to visit with the likes of Camp Director and Brewers’ TV Color Commentator, Bill “Roc” Schroeder, as well as Brian Anderson, Jerry Augustine and even the clubbies. Also, the Crew have often entered Petco with offensive excitement with the likes of Price Fielder, Ryan Braun and Corey Hart. Last night, however, it was Padres’ veteran left handing hitting Steve Kotsay showing off his professional hitting skills when Manager Bud Black pinch hit Kotsay for the team’s leading hitter in Chris Denorfia, against the Brewers’ Frankie Rodriguez. Not withstanding the left handed batter vs. a right handed pitcher scenario, some may have doubted Buddy’s choice at first. Those that did probably didn’t think about Buddy’s long history with Frankie from their days with the Angels. Here are some of my favorites from the night. (Photos by Scott Wachter/Sportseye)

10 straight days of MLB

APRIL 15, 2012 (SAN DIEGO) – After ten straight days of photographing ten baseball games during MLB’s first week of the 2012 season, below are my favorite photos from games in San Diego, Denver, San Francisco and Los Angeles. Dodgers’ Matt Kemp and Dee Gordon’s throws to first, and fist pump, are featured below after seeing the emerging Dodgers for five of the ten games as well as Melky Cabrera’s slide into home. It has been a blast, and I look forward to photographing some little leaguers this week, as well as more major leaguers! (Photo by Scott Wachter/Sportseye)

Huston on the Street

MARCH 28, 2012 (SAN DIEGO) – San Diego Padres’ new veteran closer Huston Street is featured on a street banner on the corner of J and 8th Streets in the East Village of San Diego. Although the Padres produce many marketing materials each year, and some of my photos are displayed on banners, signs, and billboards, it is still neat to see when you least expect it. I was just walking to get a bagel! ;) (Photo by Scott Wachter/Sportseye)
